OUTREACH / SERVICE
Mission, outreach, service or ministry is every believer's calling. As Christians we are all called to this ministry or priesthood – not just clergy. Each of us has a responsibility to proclaim the Good News and reach out to others in love. Today’s disciples need to find those who are vulnerable, voiceless, poor, and despised and immerse themselves in service.
SAUMC FIREWORKS FUNDRAISER
One of SAUMC’s key ministries is the Koinonia Scholarship Program. The purpose of the Koinonia Scholarship Program is to provide financial support for the advancement of higher education among the church’s college-age members.
For more than 50 years, the sale of fireworks has been the primary source of funding for these scholarships. SAUMC works with TNT Fireworks in staffing one of their fireworks booths in the city of Santa Ana July 1-4 every year. Volunteers include past and current recipients of Koinonia Scholarships supervised by Doug Gillen who has coordinated this fundraiser for more than 30 years.
